What is comct232.ocx?

Part of Microsoft Common Controls 2 Object Library by Microsoft

What is it?

A common control is a child window that an application uses in conjunction with another window to enable interaction with the user. Most common controls belong to a window class defined in the common control DLL. The window class and the corresponding window procedure define the properties, appearance, and behavior of the control.

How is comct232.ocx loaded?

Safe for scripting control - comct232.ocx has a CLSID (globally unique identifier) of {026371C0-1B7C-11CF-9D53-00AA003C9CB6} with and identifier of CLSID\{026371C0-1B7C-11CF-9D53-00AA003C9CB6}\Implemented Categories\{7DD95801-9882-11CF-9FA9-00AA006C42C4}. Safe for scripting is a Windows policy that disables the Internet Explorer security prompt for Windows Installer scripts. It allows Web-based programs to install software on the computer without notifying the user. By default, when a script hosted by an Internet browser tries to install a program on the system, the system warns users and allows them to select or refuse the installation. This setting suppresses the warning and allows the installation to proceed.
Safe for initializing control - comct232.ocx has a CLSID (globally unique identifier) of {026371C0-1B7C-11CF-9D53-00AA003C9CB6} with and identifier of CLSID\{026371C0-1B7C-11CF-9D53-00AA003C9CB6}\Implemented Categories\{7DD95802-9882-11CF-9FA9-00AA006C42C4}. When a program is initialized, it can receive data from another program for initializing its state. This is a potential security hazard because the data could come from an untrusted source. Programs that guarantee no security breach regardless of the data source are considered safe for initialization and are registered as such.
